CST for Children

I work with children and young people of all ages, from toddlers through to teenagers, supporting them through the many physical, emotional, and developmental changes that come with growing up.

Some children arrive feeling over-stimulated or “fizzy” – finding it difficult to settle, listen or focus. This can affect behaviour and emotional regulation, and may also present as tummy pain, digestive issues, headaches, or disrupted sleep patterns.

Periods of rapid growth can also have a significant impact. During growth spurts, natural tendencies often become more pronounced. A child who is naturally energetic may become even more boisterous, while a quieter child may become more withdrawn or sensitive.

As children grow, they also experience the bumps and knocks of everyday life – falls, fractures, sporting injuries, and the strain that can develop around growing bones and joints, particularly in those who are active in sport.

The teenage years bring another layer of change. Hormonal shifts, which often begin earlier than many parents expect, can be challenging for the whole family. Young people may experience changes in mood, confidence, self-awareness, and emotional wellbeing as their bodies and brains develop.

I also see many adolescents with postural issues related to increased screen time, studying, and exam preparation, particularly as they approach GCSEs and A-levels.

One of the wonderful aspects of Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is its holistic approach. Rather than focusing on a single symptom, treatment supports the whole person, allowing multiple concerns to be addressed within the same session. Many children come for occasional “top-up” appointments throughout the year to support their growth, development, and overall wellbeing, while others attend to address a specific issue.

"I highly recommend Fiona and thank her for supporting my son since age 11 through his teens with various growth and football related injuries. My son suffers from Severs disease and has had spells of knee inflammation, both of which with Fiona’s treatments, have really helped him manage. Fiona is also excellent at relating to him, so that’s a bonus and he looks forward to his treatments too!”

"Fiona has been a consistent support for my fizzy little one from the age of a toddler to now (age 8). When he sees Fiona there is always a consistent positive change in his mood and sleep, the next day he will be more grounded and calmer. Those around him both at home and at school notice the difference. But more importantly, he now feels for himself the benefits of the visits and enjoys seeing his friend Fiona (and her toys)."
